Ergonomic Workstation Assessment Form

What is an Ergonomic Workstation Assessment?

An Ergonomic Workstation Assessment is often conducted following a DSE self-assessment, as this will highlight areas of concern or where an employee may be experiencing musculoskeletal pain or discomfort.

This detailed assessment is conducted by a suitable qualified ergonomic specialist assessor, covering case background, equipment setup and identified issues. A detailed report is produced following the assessment offering reasonable adjustments if required and even recommended equipment. The assessments can take anything between 30-60 minutes and can be conducted in person and virtually via video call.

Benefits for the Employer

There are a wider range of benefits to the employer in organising Ergonomic Workstation Assessments when indicated:

  • Potential reduction in long-term musculoskeletal health problems.
  • Comply with HSE legislation around office working.
  • Reduce risks and protect staff.
  • Help build an open positive culture with staff around safety in the workplace.
  • Reduce absenteeism from work-related injuries.
  • Increase productivity, which in turn boosts profitability.

Employers should carry out a workstation assessment when:

  • A new workstation is set up.
  • A new worker/employee starts working.
  • A change to the existing working environment happens.
  • An employee complains or highlighted an existing condition, pain, or discomfort.

Benefits for the Employee

There are also many benefits for the employee to engage with the Ergonomic Workstation Assessment:

  • To advise on the most appropriate equipment and reasonable adjustments.
  • Reduce risk of health problems and/or work-related injuries.
  • Best support existing conditions.
  • Guidance on best practice equipment and posture.
