Embracing change and Goal Setting
‘The only thing constant is change’
In life change is inevitable and time is continuously ticking on with or without your permission. Grandparents become older, childhood friends move out of town and the odd wrinkle here and there shows through. All of which seem to have a negative impact on life, however, change can be for the better when a person’s view and state of mind is to embrace change rather than hide from it. Countless amounts of people get to the end of life and realise that they have not really lived due to the fear of change. They avoid testing the waters because they do not want to rock the boat and they forever live in their comfort zone.
Make changes while you can, before changes make you
Time, health and relationships are things that a lot of people take for granted. In most cases these factors are relatively constant without much fluctuation, so they slip to the back of people’s mind and become unnoticed. Its only when something drastic happens your eyes are then opened, and you realise how important these things are. Evaluating your weeks, months and years will help you keep a check on things and this will enable you to take a step back from the fast pace of life and help you realise what is important to you; what you would like to focus your time on and what are the barriers you should remove from life. This will allow you to make changes while you can, before changes make you.
Small steps for a long journey
Once you have evaluated and identified what you would like to change in your life, target it and break it down in to manageable chunks. Attempting to move from point A to point Z can be daunting for a lot of people and somewhat unachievable. However, moving from point A to B to C all the way to Z, you can see how these small checkpoints can accumulate to a massive lifestyle change and this technique can be adopted for all types of goals. Goals can be anything, ranging from what you may perceive as a negative trait such as smoking or weight management to more positive goals such as participating in more charitable donations/ events, evaluating and goal setting will make this possible and will enable you to embrace the change in your life, just make sure these goals are S.M.A.R.T!
