So much has been documented in the press recently with regards to the dramatic increase in the number of people in the UK working nights. A recent report released by the TUC details that there are now over 3 million employees regularly working at night, this is an increase of nearly 200,000 people since 2007 (6.9%).

If not monitored, there may be multiple health issues associated with working regular night shifts, these can include the following;

• Increased risk of cardiovascular disease
• Diabetes
• Depression

Working regular anti-social hours can also negatively impact an employee’s personal life, causing issues in relationships, and with finances by increasing childcare costs.

Valentine Occupational Health advises and assists organisations with assessing their employee’s wellbeing by completing Night Worker Questionnaires and Assessments.
